Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) and Ferrer announced today the signing of a collaboration agreement to promote innovation in the field of health and integrated care, focused on people and the sustainability of the system.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Montserrat Figuerola, manager of the Southern Metropolitan Area of the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and the HUB, and Ricardo Castrillo, Chief Commercial Officer of Ferrer.
The scope of the collaboration between the Bellvitge University Hospital and Ferrer will focus on the strategic pillars of the Innovation Model of the Southern Metropolitan Territorial Management (GMTS), the body created by the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) in order to manage hospital care and primary care within its territorial sphere of influence. and which includes the Bellvitge University Hospital, the Viladecans Hospital and the South Metropolitan Primary Care:

• Culture of Innovation
According to Dr. Montserrat Figuerola, "at Bellvitge Hospital and the Southern Metropolitan Area of the ICS we apply an open model of innovation in which the generation of a collaborative network with innovative entities and institutions is key to providing ideas, technological tools and valuable solutions, always with the patient as a compass and with a vision of care integration. Agreements like this represent a boost to achieve this and meet health needs in primary, hospital and community care."
For his part, Ricardo Castrillo, stated that "this type of collaboration is very much in line with Ferrer's purpose of generating a positive impact on society, as it contributes to connecting the main agents in the field of health, allows collaboration projects to be established and facilitates the construction of bridges to co-design innovative solutions that end up having a positive effect on people as a whole".
Both parties are committed to developing coordination spaces to propose common initiatives and projects that lead to innovative solutions, as well as to disseminate and generate new knowledge and shared solutions that incorporate the most innovative aspects of a new model of integrated and people-centred care.
For its part, Ferrer is committed to providing connections, knowledge of the ecosystem, methodologies and workspaces in the process of developing innovation ideas that are jointly prioritised and that materialise in co-creation processes.
In addition, the laboratory will also help the Hospital to connect with start-ups/companies that facilitate bringing innovation projects to the market and offer the possibility for GTMS-ICS professionals to attend and participate in the different activities organised by the Living Lab by Ferrer, such as themed cafés, Living Days, workshops and innovation sessions. etc.
The Living Lab by Ferrer is a collaborative innovation space that aims to create community by bringing together different actors in the health sector to identify challenges and co-create solutions with health professionals and other stakeholders. It is the project through which the collaboration between both entities will be mainly channeled.
