Can the business sector make a real contribution to solving the major social challenges in its environment? In Barcelona, the answer is beginning to take shape with the Board 2030: an alliance that brings together large companies and institutions with a shared purpose, to transform the city into a fairer, more sustainable and inclusive space.
Promoted by B Lab Spain, EADA Business School and Ferrer within the framework of Barcelona+B, the Board 2030 was born as a space for work and reflection between CEOs and management teams. A place to connect visions, share challenges and, above all, take action through concrete initiatives.
Its first major action has been as clear as it is necessary: to stop early school leaving. In a context in which Spain has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the European Union and where more than 12% of young people do not finish their studies, the impact of this problem is profound and structural.
Through collaboration with the Èxit Foundation, the companies of the Board 2030 have accompanied young people in vulnerable situations throughout the course, helping them to understand the labour market, learn about different professional careers and make decisions about their future.
At Ferrer, we believe that true change is born from collective action. That's why our involvement in the 2030 Board goes beyond being part of an alliance: it translates into activism in action. More than 175 volunteers from the team have participated in the programme, helping to sponsor classrooms and accompany young people at a key moment in their lives.
Because when the purpose is shared, the impact is multiplied.
