Since June 2021, the initiative of our subsidiary in Central America and the Caribbean, Ferrer World Caring, has demonstrated how the company's purpose is translated into concrete action under the Liveable Planet pillar. This program focuses on the recovery and proper disposal of expired or unused medicines from health professionals and business partners, preventing contamination of soils and water sources, antimicrobial resistance and illegal distribution of medicines.
Through strategic alliances with GFI and the Costa Rican Ministry of Health, a collection and traceability system was implemented that ensures responsible handling and destruction of medicines.
Thanks to this initiative and others, such as the transition to an electric vehicle fleet, the subsidiary has received recognition from the Ministry of Environment and Energy for its contribution to decarbonization and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
This outstanding initiative, which began in Costa Rica and has now expanded to Guatemala and Honduras, demonstrates that Ferrer CAC is a leader, both within the company and in its region, in sustainable business practices.
